Everyday experience and settings of refugees in Lower Saxony (ALFiN)

The study aims to compile a picture of the situation of refugees recently arrived in Lower Saxony. It looks at the causes of flight, refugee journeys, and the consequences of flight for refugees. Refugees are also asked about their expectations for the future and about their values. A further major focus is the everyday experience of refugees in Germany. A key point of attention in this regard is refugees’ social setting.

It is planned to survey at least 1,000 refugees accommodated in initial reception centres in Lower Saxony. Part of the target population are to be surveyed using self-administered written questionnaires. Guided group-based interviews are planned for respondents with limited literacy. The option of standardised individual interviews is to be used for respondents with rudimentary or zero literacy.
