Regular Events
- The Criminological Colloquium: For several years, the KFN has been organizing a Criminological Colloquium on a monthly basis—typically on the first Tuesday of each month—in which renowned scholars present their current research in a practice-oriented manner. In its hybrid format, the event series has established itself as a scientific forum with nationwide reach: once a month, interested researchers and practitioners are invited to gather at the KFN (both digitally and in person) to discuss current issues in criminology and criminal law.
- The Gender & Crime Conference is an academic specialist conference that focuses on the relationship between gender, crime, and criminal law. Its varying thematic emphases are explored through lectures, panels, and discussions, serving both professional exchange and the contextualization of current societal developments. Every two years, the KFN organizes the conference in cooperation with the German Women Lawyers Association and the Institute of Criminal Sciences at the University of Göttingen.
- The KFN-MethodLab Autumn/Winter Conference is an academic conference with a focus on methodology, aimed primarily at researchers engaged in empirical work. The conference centres on methods and statistical procedures used in criminological research. The aim of the conference is to promote discussion on standards, innovations and the limits of methodological research, and to present new developments in empirical criminology.
- The KFN MethodLab workshop series on methodology and statistics is a training programme aimed at both KFN staff and empirical researchers from other institutions. The aim of the series is to address current methodological needs within the organisation, as well as to present and explore developments in data collection and analysis.
- Science November is a kind of ‘science open day’ held across Hanover, during which a wide range of hands-on activities and discussion sessions are offered every two years over a period of several weeks. The KFN is delighted to take part by presenting and discussing current research projects of particular social relevance.
